About David Barnes
DBPR was established by journalist and p
ublic relations professional David Barnes in June
2008.
David, a father of three boys, is married to Jo – a magazines editor – and lives in Chepstow.
David worked in newspapers for 20 years, latterly as business editor of the South Wales
Argus – the evening newspaper for Gwent.
He moved into PR in 2000 taking up a post with a Cardiff-based agency initially as an account manager but soon being promoted to account director. While at the agency he worked on a number of accounts for a range of clients including the Welsh Assembly Government,
Education and Learning Wales (ELWA) and Department for Education, Children and Lifelong Learning (DECELLS), the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education Cymru (NIACE Dysgu Cymru), Engineering Employers Federation Wales (EEF Cymru), the South Wales
Contact Centre Forum Ltd, Sigma 3 Kitchens, and the Welsh Development Agency/Department for Enterprise Information and Networks (DEIN) to name but a few…
David is keen on football and he managed his eldest son’s football team for five years up to
under 16 – a ‘job’ he describes as the most challenging he has ever done!
David also enjoys gardening and has a passion for classic cars – in particular Standards and Triumphs. He used to own a 1958 Standard 10 and his dream car is a 1951 Standard Vanguard Phase 1A or a 1966 TR4A.
